From the     commendation list "in the battle to break through the German defenses on the west bank of the Oder River to the south of Frankfurt, April 16 1945, in spite of fierce resistance and heavy artillery mortar fire, with a clear risk to life boldly led his platoon to assault enemy fortifications and burst led a platoon in the trenches of the enemy, destroyed more than 25 Nazis. Personally destroyed 4 Nazis. In this battle he was wounded. Worthy of awarding the Order "Red Star."
